Work

Work. This word has both negative and positive implications. For the jobless, this is something positive. A jobless person wants work. He/she looks for a job to earn. For people who have jobs, however, work may be negative. Work may mean stress. Employed people look forward to holidays.

Just before this school year started, just before my work began, I was able to listen to a very meaningful and useful talk from a pastor about work. The following ideas are the important things I want to keep in mind as I work.

1. Work is part of God's plan. As early as Adam's time, work began. God gave him an important task to fulfill.

2. It is God who places us in our work place. He places us where He wants us to work. His desire and plan, not ours, will prevail.

3. Take time to get rest, not just physical rest but spiritual as well. True rest means spiritual refreshment.

4. Whatever you do, do it for God. Sometimes, it may be difficult to submit to authorities. Don't ever forget that the true boss is God.

5. Don't try to promote yourself in order to get promotion. It is God who rewards. Rewards will come at the perfect time, in full package.

6. Don't follow the trend. Don't choose a job just because everyone else chooses it. You have your own calling.

7. Seek God's will for you. He alone can lead you where you should be.

8. As you pray, God will lead you. He will give you everything you need to obey His will for you--- opportunities, desire, passion. So after praying and having complete peace, choose the job that you know you will enjoy. When you do what you enjoy, you will enjoy what you're doing.

9. Fulfillment in life is doing what God wants you to do, because only God can fill you up. Fulfillment in life is NEVER monetary.
