Family Picture Frames

As part of our family theme, the Kinder Seniors made picture frames for their family photos they brought to school.

My pupils and their family picture frames

We asked our pupils to bring pictures of their families celebrating different occasions. This was part of our discussion on family traditions. Our pupils excitedly showed their family pictures to their classmates and introduced their family members. Each of them also shared what occasion the family was celebrating when the picture was taken. They had fun learning from each other! The Kinder Seniors got more excited when they found out that they will be making frames for their family pictures!

This art work is simple but enjoyable and meaningful as well. ;)

FAMILY PICTURE FRAME

Materials needed:

Colored paper
Popsicle sticks of different colors
Yarn
Glue
Scissors

1. The first thing we did was to glue the picture on a colored paper.
2. Then, the children glued popsicle sticks around the picture. Most of them formed a house out of the sticks.
3. To decorate the framed pictures, we made different shape cutouts such as stars, hearts, and smileys. The children glued these on the pictures.
4. We helped them cut the framed pictures.
5. We used yarn to hang one frame to another.

The children loved their family picture frames! Most of them wanted to bring them home to show the framed pictures to their parents. We let them bring home one of their masterpieces and asked them to leave the rest in the classroom, explaining to them that they will be displayed. They were all excited to hang the pictures!
